Introducing High Performance
The Scottish Bowling Association, in conjunction with the Scottish Women’s Bowling Association recently appointed a High Performance Manager. This post is supported by sportscotland, with the view of preparing for the next Commonwealth Games hosted by Delhi, India, 2010. High Performance is a new concept for Scottish Bowls.
As the newly appointed High Performance Manager as of 1st June, 2009, I look forward to making an important contribution to the continued international success of Scottish Bowls.
Effective communication with its members is key to a successful governing body. This page serves as just one medium by which bowlers can access information on High Performance related issues, including the function and structure of the High Performance Programme.
As the High Performance Manager, I am accountable to the Scottish Bowling Association, the Scottish Women’s Bowling Association, and its bowling members. I am also very aware of being accountable to the wider Scottish public, as they too deserve to have the best Scottish bowling representatives being best prepared for success at International competition. I am not afraid to make difficult decisions in order to make this happen.
The High Performance Manager is very much responsible for the success of the Scottish elite international teams. Part of this responsibility is creating a Performance Group, which is a team of performance experts, working together on a plan to make success possible.
I have a player-centred approach to my management. I will always endeavour to put the players' needs first, and work in consultation and collaboration with all players in my care. I have respect for the need to balance the commitment to sporting aspirations with work and family, and value each person’s individuality. I have a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination of any kind and will always champion equal opportunities for everyone I work with.
High Performance Manager, Ceri Ann Davies.
